The DO’s & DON’Ts of Replacing Your HVAC System

Has your HVAC system called it quits? We know it can be hard to keep your Dallas home comfortable during our summer months and having the right HVAC system for your home’s needs is CRUCIAL. When it comes to replacing your system, it’s imperative that you are following these guidelines to ensure you are selecting the correct system for your home.

DO:

Know The Correct Size You Need: HVAC systems are sized based on the square footage of your home. For instance, a two-ton system can effectively control up to 1,400 square feet, whereas a five-ton system can get up to 3,300 square feet. Don’t over- or underestimate your system size!

Establish A Budget: The cost increases with the size of the system. The cost will also vary on what specific part you want replaced – central A/C, central heating, boilers, radiators, or heat pumps. A technician can come to your home and give you an estimate.

Test Out Your New System: You would think that once the new system is in, you could just let it do its job, right? It’s always safer to test it to make sure the HVAC system is in sync and running efficiently before your technician leaves.

DON’T:

Wait For Repairs: Waiting to replace or repair your HVAC system is like avoiding replacing parts on your car until the last minute possible – dangerous. Typically, it increases your costs in the long run and can put your wallet in a pinch more often than not.

Ignore Your Warranty: Know what it says! Some warranties can be extremely helpful and save you some big bucks if something is faulty after installation. On the other hand, you could purchase a unit with a very limited warranty, which may not even be worth the cost.

Forget About Maintenance: Just because you have a new HVAC system doesn’t mean you can leave it on its own for a while. Taking care of your system properly can not only extend the life of your system, but it can even save you money from future repairs. You can help by doing preventative maintenance and leave the repairs to us!
